New site launched

Written by Code of Zero on . Posted in Press Releases

As our work increased throughout 2011 and we starting profiling ourselves and realizing the core ideals and values that we wanted Code of Zero to represent, we also outgrew our old site. Time was in for a new look that matched what Code of Zero had become; a young yet powerful app developing company with focus on minimalistic design and quality functionality.

So after many hours of hard work and brainstorming we finally reached a new look that we where satisfied with. Many company websites are overflowed with information and technical text which might make them look serious but probably confuses most users. We wanted a clean design which instantly informs the user who we are and what we do. Nothing more, nothing less. As the new site was being born we also took the oppertunity to create our first logo which we are quite happy with ourselves. What is symbolizes we’ll leave for you to figure out!

Enjoy the new site, we hope you like it as much as we do! :-)

Al Jazeera no longer available

Written by Code of Zero on . Posted in Press Releases

After a series of mail exchange between Al Jazeera and Code of Zero and finally also with Apple intervening we have been forced to take down the Al Jazeera application from both AppStore and Android Market.

Al Jazeera claims that our usage of their brand, name and logo is copyright infringement. We have however explained our stance to both Al Jazeera and Apple stating that our application merely works as a parser by reading from a RSS feed Al Jazeera has publicly published on their website, parsing their YouTube channel using Google’s own official API for parsing of YouTube channels and providing a button to stream their live TV stream from LiveStation in the built in media player of the iPhone and Android.

We are working on releasing the Al Jazeera application under a different name and logo however Al Jazeera has so far failed to reply with a clarification of what they consider as copyright infringement and what we are allowed to use in our application. Negotiations are ongoing with both Al Jazeera and Apple and we hope we will reach a conclusion which is benefiting for all parts.

At the end of the day we are passionate developers who wish to code and provide high quality apps to make life a bit simpler and nicer and are not interested in bureaucracy or causing any problems. We have even offered our application to Al Jazeera since it is doing very good on AppStore and Android Market but they have declined. Thus if no agreement is reached we will sadly have to leave the idea of an independent Al Jazeera app altogether.

We would like to thank all costumers for their downloads and apologize for any inconvenience which this might cause. In the mean while do check out our Press TV app (iPhone | Android) instead which does all that Al Jazeera does and provides excellent news of the World and Middle East as well!

Press TV is hot in the UK!

Written by Code of Zero on . Posted in In the Spotlight

We have seen a significant increase in the sales of the Press TV app for the iPhone the latest days, probably due to the ongoing happenings in the Middle East, particularly Tunis and Egypt.

In the UK this resulted in the Press TV app being listed as the first app under “What’s Hot” in the News category of iTunes:

Over 10,000 Downloads In Less Than A Month

Written by Code of Zero on . Posted in In the Spotlight

After having been on the Android Marketplace for less than a month (application went live on December 28th, 2010), the Press TV On Android application has clocked up over 10,000 downloads. Thanks to all those who have been downloading and sharing this app.

The current app is at version 1.35, and is considered as stable and there won’t be so many updated in the next month. But work has already started on the 2.x version and that gives the entire UI a complete overhaul, making it considerably easier to use, and also includes notification, favourite subjects, program integration[1] and a lot more.
Program integration is a feature when the app brings a user’s favourite program/programs directly to them when they are on, so the user can interact with the program. We don’t want to give too much away, but it’s exciting stuff, so stay tuned. The 2.x release is scheduled in 2 months (so around March time).

That’s all for now,

Warm Regards,

Code of Zero (Android Team)

After only being available a few days on iTunes the Press TV iPhone app has already climb onto the scene of “New and Noteworthy” on the Swedish section. We thank all customers for their love and feedback. It makes our job so much more fun when we know that what we do is appreciated by the people.
